Pool Player RULES
The following rules are to clarify Southern Youth Baseball Pool Player Rules for games. Failure to follow these rules will result in a Forfeiture of the game.
1. All pool players must be registered with Southern Youth Baseball.
2. A team may pick up as many as 2 players, to field a team of 9 players for Minor and Major Division and 10 players (to field a team) for Rookie and Tee Ball Divisions. If more than two players are picked-up, the team forfeits the game. These players must come from the registered pool players, if possible, to play a regulation game. Example: You must replace a 12 year old with a 12 year old pool player, if possible. If it is not possible, then a younger pool player can be picked up from registered pool. An older player cannot be picked up for a younger player in any age group.
3. The player or players that are picked up must play outfield in all age Divisions, and will have to bat at the bottom of the order.
4. If it is a game time decision, opposing manager must be in agreement with player(s). Opposing manager has the right to strike one pool player, if it is a game time decision only. Game can only be delayed 15 minutes for pool player to arrive.
After 15 minutes from original scheduled game time, game will be declared a forfeit and a loss recorded for team requiring pool players. If both teams require pool players and both team do not have enough to play after 15 minutes, then both teams will forfeit and a loss recorded for both teams.
5. Pool Players should come in his\her own team uniform.
6. If a team player shows up, then the pool player must be replaced with the regular player and should be done at the end of a full inning. The regular player will replace the pool player in the same position in the batting order, but can play their regular position in the field.
7. Opposing Manager, Officials and the Scorekeepers must be notified that a pool player has been removed.
8. Pool players cannot be used if a player is ejected from the game.
9. A pool player cannot participate as a pool player more than three games in a season.
Southern Youth Baseball will establish a Pool Player Listing for each age group and the player agent will be responsible for arranging pool players for each game. List will be posted on the www.southernyouthbaseball.com Managers should start at top of list and work in ascending order. Once a pool player is used he will be moved to the bottom of the list. Notice should be given to the player agent the day before the game is scheduled. If this is a game day or game time issue, then the opposing manager must agree on the pool player available. If both managers cannot agree, a Southern Youth Baseball Board Member will appoint a pool player.
