-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thunder Cardinal was in a tight game with the Titans but gave up five
runs
in the bottom of the fifth inning and suffered an 11 - 1 loss. Each team
played tremendous defense in an exciting game to the end.
Justin Harris and John Ross Morgan each reached base in the first inning
with hard hit singles but Thunder Cardinal could not get additional balls
past the Titan short stop. Kyle Bullock had a single stolen as the Titan
short stop made a terrific catch on a hard hit ball up the middle and
barely threw Kyle out at first. Jackson Livengood was robbed of and extra
base hit as the Titan short stop made a leaping catch of an extremely hard
hit line drive.
The Titans hit the ball hard in the bottom of the first inning when John
Ross made a great catch of his own on a hard line drive to his position at
short stop. John Ross then followed his catch with a terrific snatch of a
hard hit ball to his left and a great throw to Daryl Moore at second base
to force the runner and close out the inning.
Daryl got things going for Thunder Cardinal in the second inning leading
off with a tremendous fly ball to right field. Daryl had to hold at first
as the Titan outfielder made a fine play to cut the ball off from going
into the gap. Nolan Johnson followed Daryl with a hard hit ball that
moved Daryl all the way from first to third. Daryl was then knocked in by
Jonathan Hall to score the only run that Thunder Cardinal could put on the
board for the day.

inning as Daryl closed out the inning fielding a hard hit ball at second
base and making the unassisted put out.
Kalen Tuck led things off for Thunder Cardinal in the third inning with a
hard hit fly ball to right field but was held to a single due to a fine
play again by the Titan outfielder. Kyle was able to reach first base in
the inning with a single but that would be the extent of the Thunder
Cardinal threat as the Titan short stop again made a fine catch on a hard
hit line drive by Justin. The top of the Titan line-up came to the plate
in the bottom of the third inning but could only muster one run due to
fine defensive plays by Thunder Cardinal. John Ross and Daryl hooked up
on back to back force outs at second base as John Ross snagged two hard
hit ground balls at short stop and Daryl made two terrific catches at
second base. Jackson closed out the inning when Justin snagged a hard hit
ball up the middle and made a perfect throw to Jackson at first to keep
the game close at 6 - 1.
John Ross provided the only offensive threat in the top of the fourth
inning for Thunder Cardinal reaching first base on a hard hit ball to the
left side of the infield. The bottom of the fourth resulted in no runs
for the Titans as Thunder Cardinal stopped all three Titan hitters with
tremendous defensive plays. Jonathan recorded the first out when he
snagged an extremely hard hit line drive at the third base position.
Justin then charged off the mound to collect a ground ball and made a
perfect throw to Jackson at first base. Daryl then moved to his right at
second base to field a hard hit ground ball and calmly made the throw to
Jackson at first to record the final out of the inning. Thunder Cardinal
was still in the game at 6 - 1 after four innings.
The top of the fifth saw Thunder Cardinal load the bases but again get
stymied by fine defensive plays by the Titans. After hitting the ball
extremely hard, Nolan was retired with a fine play by the Titan second
baseman. Jonathan reached base with a hard hit single but was then
retired after the Titan short stop made a terrific snag of a hard shot up
the middle to make an unassisted force out at second. Benjamin Hall then
started things again for Thunder Cardinal when he reached first on a hard
hit single. Benjamin was moved to second base when Ryan Lonnergan stepped
to the plate and recorded a hard hit single of his own. Kalen was not to
be out done as he ripped a hard hit line drive up the middle to load the
bases. Kyle then followed with a hard hit ball up the middle which the
Titan pitcher dove to his right to snag and made a perfect throw to first
base barely beating Kyle to the bag.
6 - 1 was as close as Thunder Cardinal could get after the top of the
fifth inning as the Titans scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to
close the scoring out at 11 - 1.
Joshua Richard had two strong at bats in the game and performed extremely
well in the field as he fielded each ball flawlessly and made accurate
throws.
John Ross Morgan was awarded the game ball as he collected two hits and
made numerous fine stops on hard hit balls and tremendous throws from his
position at short stop.
Thunder Cardinal was without the services of Griffin Singleton who missed
school with an illness. We wish Griffin the best and look forward to him
joining the team this Saturday.

capitalize on the great defensive inning as Daryl collected his second
single of the day to lead off the inning but then Thunder Cardinal went
three up and three down after Daryl reached base to close out the inning.
The Dodgers took the lead for good in the fifth inning scoring two runs to
go ahead 7 - 6. The defensive play of the fifth inning was turned in by

inning. Johnathan Hall closed out the inning with a hard hit single.
Thunder Cardinal led after one inning by a score of 5-0.
Thunder Cardinal went scoreless in the second inning offensively but Daryl

Cardinal.

got their bats rolling again. Griffin started the inning off with a hard
hit single. Nolan then hit a tremendous drive over the center fielder's
head for a double to knock in Griffin. Daryl followed Nolan with his
second hit of the game as he singled to reach base. Joshua Richard then

final run of the inning when Kyle Bullock hit a triple to knock in Joshua.

and the umpire ducking to save their lives, and scored Justin and Jackson
while John Ross circled the bases to record a home run. Griffin followed
John Ross with his third hit of the game collecting a hard hit triple and
then tried to stretch it to a home run as he was barely thrown out at home
plate after a tremendous slide on a very close call. Nolan got things
rolling again with a single and recorded his third hit of the game. Daryl
singled for his third hit of the game as well and moved Nolan over to
third base. Joshua then strode to the plate and laced a hard hit single

record a grand slam to close out the inning with seven runs scored.
Joshua made the defensive play of the fourth inning as he dove for a line
drive that he caught and then was dislodged when he landed on the ground.

a pop-up fly ball. Daryl scored three runs in the game as well.
Special thanks goes out to Coach Joel and the practice squad coaching
staff. With three quarters of the regular Thunder Cardinal coaching staff
unavailable for the game Coach Joel took over as manager and quickly
assembled coaches from the practice squad to manage the Indian game.
Coach Clark took over on the pitching machine and gave up a season Thunder
Cardinal high of 21 hits in 4 innings. Coach Eddie handled the first base
coaching duties without the use of his cell phone and filled in admirably.
Coach Daryl filled in for Coach Eddie at first base upon Coach Eddie's
departure and played a crucial decision making role in the Thunder
Cardinal seven run fourth inning. Coach Slade was unflappable as he
rushed from the stands to take over bench coach responsibilities and kept
our catchers in gear and ready to go as required. Coach Missy took charge
as coach in charge of batting order, field positions, and sportsmanship
and still found time to keep score, watch Ethan, and dodge foul balls into
the dugout.
Thanks again coaches for a fine performance on and off the field.
