The following is from Southern Youth Baseball By-Laws for Voting Members.

ARTICLE III - VOTING MEMBERS

 A.        PLAYER MEMBER’S LEGAL CUSTODIAN.  Unless otherwise stated in these by-laws, a player’s or child’s legal custodian(s) is defined as follows:

1.         Both parents if the parents are not divorced and there is not a custody or adoption order granting custody to another person(s);

2.         The divorced parent who has been specifically granted sole or primary physical custody by court order (even though the court order may also designate the custody arrangement as joint);

3.         Both divorced parents who have joint physical custody by court order (i.e., neither parent is awarded sole custody or primary physical custody); or

4.         The person or persons who have legal custody of the player by custody or adoption order.

 B.        PERSONS HAVING MEMBER VOTING PRIVILEGES.  Every person is presumed to be in good standing with the league unless that status has been removed by the SYBA Board of Directors.  The following persons who are in good standing with the league shall be SYBA members and have voting privileges in the SYBA:

                     1.           The legal custodian of a child who: 

                            a.         is participating in current, ongoing SYBA regular season or all-star season; or

                            b.         played in the most recent SYBA baseball season and is eligible to play in the upcoming SYBA season.

2.           Coaches who are actively coaching in the current SYBA regular or all-star season;

3.           Persons who coached in the SYBA within the last 10 months;

4.           Current directors on the SYBA Board of Directors;

5.           Current officers (president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer) of the SYBA.

 C.        ONE MEMBER, ONE VOTE.  Each voting member in good standing whose voting privilege is not revoked or suspended has the right to cast one vote for each open Board of Director position.
